RangeSight FAQ

Common questions about the Monte Carlo risk engine, the iOS app, the prop firm calculators, and the brand. If you came here looking for a drone application, the first answer is for you.

    Is RangeSight a drone app?

No. RangeSight is a Monte Carlo risk engine for traders. You may have found a similarly-named drone application at rangesight.io: it is unrelated to us. RangeSight Studios publishes trading risk tools for individual and funded / prop traders.

    What does RangeSight actually do?

RangeSight runs 10,000-path Monte Carlo simulations (up to 30,000 on Advanced Pro) against your trading strategy or your prop firm's exact drawdown rule. It returns ruin probability, drawdown distribution, and rule-violation probability so you can size positions before you place the trade, not after a blow-up.

Is RangeSight a forecast or prediction tool?

No. RangeSight is explicitly NOT a price prediction tool. It simulates probability distributions based on real historical volatility. It tells you the range of outcomes your strategy is likely to produce, not where any individual stock will go.

How is RangeSight different from a backtest?

A backtest tells you what happened on one historical path. Monte Carlo simulation tells you what could have happened across thousands of randomized paths drawn from real volatility. That is the difference between knowing a single result and knowing the distribution of results, including tail risk.

Does RangeSight work with prop firms like FTMO, Topstep, Apex, MyFundedFX?

Yes. RangeSight models the exact drawdown rule of each prop firm: static, trailing, or trailing end-of-day. It returns the probability of hitting the rule, the median trade count to violation, and the probability of passing the evaluation. We cover 24 firms by name. We are educational only and not affiliated with any prop firm.

Is the web calculator the same as the iOS app?

No. The free web calculators on rangesightstudios.com use the classical risk of ruin formula and are designed as quick teasers. The iOS app runs full 10,000-path Monte Carlo (up to 30,000 on Advanced Pro) with real historical volatility on Advanced runs, prop-firm-aware rule modeling on Quick Test, and saved strategies you can re-run when conditions change.

    How much does RangeSight cost?

Quick Test is free, unlimited, and needs no signup. The RangeSight app is a one-time $29.99 founder price (first 1,000 buyers, then $99.99) for the full pass-probability engine, Fix-This recommendation, and saved strategies. One payment, lifetime access, no subscription.

Where does RangeSight get its data?

Real historical price and volatility data from public market sources, processed locally on the device for the in-app simulations. The web calculators use closed-form survival math derived from your inputs and require no data fetch.

    Is RangeSight financial advice?

No. RangeSight is an educational risk-modeling tool. It does not recommend trades, recommend brokers, or recommend prop firms. It tells you the math of your own strategy. Always verify prop firm rules with the firm before trading.
